Iranian-American group files lawsuit to stop President Trump's war on Iran

The advocacy organization National Iranian American Council brought a suit against President Donald Trump in a Washington, DC court, asking judges to order an end to U.S. military operations in Iran. The filing claims the war, which has persisted for more than half a year, endangers Iranians and Iranian Americans through civilian deaths, injuries to family members of plaintiffs, and economic strain from sanctions. Plaintiffs include U.S. citizens and a veteran whose relatives were reportedly killed or wounded in Iranian air strikes.

The complaint asserts that the administration is conducting an indefinite war without proper constitutional checks. It also references a United Nations fact-finding mission that suggested possible U.S. war crimes. NIAC President Jamal Abdi said the case questions whether a single president can unilaterally keep a nation at war.
