Iranian asylum seeker sentenced to 11 years for attempted rape after bizarre 'micropenis' defence

Hossein Mohmoudi, an Iranian asylum seeker, received an 11-year prison term for attempting to rape a woman in London, rejecting his claim of a ‘micropenis’ as a defence.

In Snaresbrook Crown Court, Hossein Mohmoudi was convicted of attempting to rape a woman he had tracked from a December 2024 Christmas party, following her across London and attacking her in an alleyway. He claimed the assault was impossible because he possessed a ‘micropenis’, a defence dismissed after two doctors, including consultant urologist Dr George Fowlis, confirmed his genitalia were normal. The judge, Sarah-Jane Griffiths, highlighted his prior stalking behaviour, earlier convictions for assault in Germany, and a recent incident where he terrified another woman.

Evidence showed he had been using a fetish website to practice English, contradicting his statements. Mohmoudi was sentenced to 11 years, with a four-year extended licence, will serve two-thirds before parole consideration, and faces deportation after release.

Why it matters

The case underscores the seriousness of sexual violence and the futility of implausible medical defences in court.
