Iranian delegation seeks women-led business ties with India at BRICS summit

India is preparing to host the BRICS summit while Iran's delegation, led by President Masoud Pezeshkian, arrives amid ongoing conflict in West Asia. Zahra Rahaei, chair of the BRICS Women Business Alliance Iranian Chapter, expressed gratitude for the warm reception from Indian officials and outlined a plan to establish a framework that would help Iranian women-owned enterprises and startups access finance, credit, suppliers and global clients within the BRICS community.

She invoked historic civilizational links between Iran and India and called for collective peace. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei reiterated Tehran's commitment to its historic partnership with New Delhi, referencing recent bilateral talks between Pezeshkian and Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the SCO summit in Bishkek. Baghaei said the BRICS meeting will be leveraged to boost trade, especially in connectivity and logistics infrastructure, underscoring India's pivotal role in multilateral groups.
