Iranian lawmaker warns US war effort could stall if Trump loses midterms

Ali Khezrian said a prolonged conflict would disadvantage the United States and that a Trump defeat in the November midterms could limit his ability to continue the war.

Iranian parliamentarian Ali Khezrian cautioned that a drawn-out conflict is unfavorable to the United States, noting that time itself erodes American advantage. He asserted that a loss for Donald Trump’s Republican Party in the November midterms would severely restrict the president’s capacity to pursue the war during the final two years of his administration. Khezrian added that Trump could still order a new military operation against Iran between early November and early January, prior to the seating of a newly elected Congress.

He also linked higher oil and energy costs to a potential decline in Trump’s re-election chances, saying another strike would increase economic pressure on the United States. Furthermore, Khezrian suggested that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanjahu’s regional trips and talks with Arab leaders raise the odds of a limited, short-term operation against Iran, aiming for quick, limited military success for Israel and the United States.
