Iranian parliament speaker briefs Supreme Leader on US-Israel tensions and national strategy
Parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf met Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei to discuss recent US-Israel hostilities, economic challenges and information warfare.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf held a briefing with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, focusing on the latest military and economic developments involving the United States and Israel, as well as information warfare. Ghalibaf reported on parliamentary activities since the outbreak of the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran on Feb. 28 and detailed ongoing and future measures to reinforce national capabilities, maintain social unity, and address economic hardships.
The discussion also highlighted the importance of deepening cooperation with Iran’s strategic partners. This meeting marks another rare public appearance by Khamenei, who has largely communicated through written statements since assuming the role in March. President Masoud Pezeshkian has previously met Khamenei twice, including a seven-hour session in August. The talks occur amid continuing Tehran-Washington tensions over security in the Strait of Hormuz and broader regional conflict.
Why it matters
The briefing shows how Iran’s top leadership is coordinating its response to escalating US-Israel pressure and internal economic strains.
