Iranian parliament speaker says Tehran ready to fight and negotiate with the US

Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf told lawmakers that the country is prepared to both confront and negotiate with the United States over the Strait of Hormuz dispute.

In a parliamentary session, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf declared that Iran remains undaunted by U.S. actions and is ready to pursue both military and diplomatic avenues. He emphasized that Iran is fully engaged on the battlefield and will introduce new surprises while also leveraging diplomacy to assert its rights. Qalibaf referenced recent U.S. outreach through mediators following Iran’s seven-day roadmap for reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

He reiterated that the strait will not be reopened until seven Iranian demands, derived from the June-signed Islamabad Memorandum, are met. Those demands, previously sent to Washington via Qatari mediators, include a full cease-fire, release of frozen Iranian assets, and lifting of the naval blockade. The statement underscores Tehran’s dual-track approach of pressure and negotiation in the ongoing regional tension.
