Iraq confiscates drone launch platform linked to attack on Saudi East-West pipeline

Iraqi authorities reported that a security task force recovered a drone-launching platform believed to have been used in the recent attack on Saudi Arabia’s East-West oil pipeline. Lieutenant General Saad Maan, head of the Security Media Cell, said forensic experts are analysing the equipment to trace the attackers, while Iraq’s commander-in-chief has permitted an Iranian delegation to participate in the probe. Baghdad is maintaining direct communication with Saudi officials to share intelligence.

The pipeline, responsible for roughly 4-5% of the world’s oil flow, was halted as a precaution after drones launched from Iraq injured several individuals. In response, Iraq temporarily closed several border crossings with Iran for security inspections and reshuffled military commanders in the Maysan region following the incident.
