Iraq Secures Hosting Duties for the 28th Gulf Cup Tournament
The Gulf Football Federation approved Iraq's bid to host the 28th Gulf Cup during a meeting in Jeddah.
During a Gulf Football Federation executive meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, officials voted to award Iraq the right to host the 28th edition of the Gulf Cup. Iraq's application was the only one received from the federation's member associations, and the approval was announced by Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, the federation's president. The Iraqi Football Association is now tasked with selecting a host city within a set deadline and complying with all required organisational regulations.
The federation highlighted the decision as a sign of its commitment to deepen collaboration with its members and to further develop the regional championship framework. At the close of the session, Sheikh Hamad reiterated his ongoing support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino. Preparations for the tournament will now move forward under Iraq's stewardship.
