Irish water authority ends hosepipe restrictions early as rains boost supplies

Úisce Éireann confirmed that the hosepipe ban affecting Cork, Dublin, Limerick and ten additional counties will end two weeks earlier than intended, citing recent rainfall that has raised water availability. The restrictions were originally introduced in July when an unusually hot summer depleted local supplies. Mairead Conlon, the utility’s asset strategy senior manager, thanked residents and commercial users for reducing non-essential water consumption, which helped protect drinking water for homes, farms, hospitals and other essential services.

She emphasized that, although the Water Conservation Order is concluding ahead of schedule, continued prudent water use remains important. The agency highlighted that collective small actions have a measurable impact on preserving water resources for future needs.
