Islamic Emirate plans museums and libraries to preserve two-decade jihad legacy

The Ministry of Information and Culture announced that the Islamic Emirate will create museums, memorial towers and libraries to document past jihad battles, foreign-force equipment and related casualties.

At a recent meeting in Ghazni, Muhammad Tahir Ahmad outlined the Islamic Emirate's plan to assemble weapons, equipment and documents left by foreign troops over the past two decades. The gathered material will be housed in new jihad museums, with additional memorial towers erected to honor martyrs and the wounded. Ahmad emphasized that civilian casualties will be recorded and incorporated into the historical narrative.

Sardar Muhammad Madani highlighted the significance of this period as a major chapter in Afghanistan's history. Saeed Khosti noted that any captured foreign arms will be catalogued and displayed, and that dedicated jihad libraries will be created alongside the museums.

Why it matters

The project seeks to shape public memory of Afghanistan's recent conflicts and preserve artifacts for future generations.
