Israel captures senior Hamas internal security official in Gaza operation

Israeli forces announced the capture of Muein al-Arabid, described as the leader of Hamas's internal security network in Gaza, during a ground operation on Tuesday. The army and Shin Bet said he had recently worked to tighten Hamas's grip on the northern Strip and to facilitate attacks against IDF troops, and that he was transferred to Israel for further interrogation. The raid was supported by an Israeli-aligned militia, identified as the Abu Shabab group, the largest anti-Hamas paramilitary in the area.

Palestinian health officials reported that the accompanying air strikes killed three children and a woman in western Gaza City, a toll. Hamas's Interior Ministry claimed al-Arabid was wounded, his wife killed and several of his children injured, though a Gaza security source said his role was limited to targeting collaborators. The incident occurred despite a US-backed ceasefire, with the conflict continuing to claim hundreds of lives on both sides.
