Israeli Far-Right Candidates Push “Voluntary” Palestinian Exodus in Election Campaign
Far-right contenders Itamar Ben-Gvir and Ofer Winter are campaigning on platforms that call for Palestinians to leave Gaza and the West Bank, using AI-generated imagery to promote the idea.
Ben-Gvir, serving as National Security Minister, proudly endorses a policy of “voluntary” Palestinian removal from Gaza and the West Bank, even releasing an AI-generated video in which he answers a Gazan girl’s plea by sending a flag-adorned cruise ship to an unspecified destination.
Winter, a former general, has incorporated a similar voluntary-emigration proposal into his newly formed Amcha Israel party, seeking to draw right-wing voters who are disillusioned with Netanyahu yet uneasy about Ben-Gvir’s more abrasive approach. The analysts described Winter’s stance as a “bizarre rejection of reality.” Their conversation also noted that the election appears headed for a stalemate, with polls showing neither the Netanyahu-aligned bloc nor the opposing Jewish-Zionist bloc close to the 61 seats needed for a governing majority.
Why it matters
The rhetoric signals a shift toward extremist proposals that could influence Israel's political landscape and its relations with Palestinians.
