Israeli forces arrest dozens while settlers assault West Bank olive pickers
Israeli troops detained dozens of Palestinians in Burqa and settlers attacked olive harvesters in Beita and al-Mughayyir.
Israeli security units conducted a sweep of the village of Burqa, northwest of Nablus, detaining dozens of Palestinians, with reports of mistreatment of several young men in a public square. Simultaneously, Israeli settlers launched attacks on olive harvesters in the town of Beita, targeting workers in the Qammas area on Saturday morning, following a prior assault that involved live fire in Jabal al-Arma. Israeli forces also arrested a number of young men and solidarity activists who had traveled to assist the farmers. In the village of al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah, settlers, under military protection, damaged olive trees and allowed their sheep to feed on the fields, according to the village council’s deputy head, Marzouq Abu Naim.
