Israeli gunfire kills pregnant Gaza resident and her unborn child in Khan Younis
A 27-year-old pregnant Palestinian woman was shot in the head by Israeli forces in a tent near Khan Younis and died along with her unborn baby.
On Saturday, Israeli forces opened fire in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, hitting 27-year-old Iman Shalouf in the head while she sat inside her family’s tent. Emergency responders rushed her to Nasser Hospital, where physicians first detected a fetal heartbeat and hoped the baby might survive. Despite medical efforts, both Shalouf and the unborn child, whom the couple had named Ayoub, succumbed to their injuries. Her husband, Sulaiman Abu Mashi, told reporters the pregnancy was at seven months and a week. The tragedy adds to the mounting civilian toll in the southern Gaza Strip.
