Israeli map app mistakenly reveals dozens of military sites in Gaza

A recent glitch in Israel's official mapping application exposed at least eleven military installations near Gaza, showing ultra-high-resolution aerial photos.

The official Israeli cartography service normally blurs Gaza, but a slip last week displayed detailed satellite images with a 13-centimeter pixel size. The images uncovered a minimum of eleven bases located on or close to the Palestinian enclave, allowing viewers to identify ground personnel and vehicle types. No official explanation has been offered, and such resolution is typically restricted to intelligence agencies under Israeli, U.S. and other security laws.

Why it matters

The exposure of military sites could compromise operational security and heighten tensions in the Israel-Gaza conflict.
