In a UEFA Nations League fixture in Debrecen, Ireland beat Israel 3-0, prompting Israeli supporters to chant "monkey" insults at Adam Idah and to raise pro-military slogans from the stands. UEFA confirmed the racist abuse but stated an investigation could not be opened because Irish players and officials did not follow the required reporting procedures. The chants were recorded by Youseph Haddad, a candidate for Israel's upcoming parliamentary elections, who also declared that Israel's spirit would remain unbroken.

Despite international pressure to boycott the match over Israel's actions in Gaza, the game proceeded, with Irish players wearing black armbands and captain Dara O’Shea pledging his match earnings to Gaza aid. Goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu opted out of the fixture entirely. UEFA's disciplinary rules allow fines or stadium bans, but no sanction has been announced yet.
