Israeli UN envoy offers Starlink terminal to Iranian delegate after GA speech

Following Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's UN General Assembly address, Israel's UN envoy Danny Danon attempted to hand a Starlink device to an Iranian diplomat as a symbolic gesture for internet freedom.

During the 81st UN General Assembly, Benjamin Netanyahu warned that the Iranian regime heavily censors the internet and showcased a Starlink communications unit. After his remarks, Israel's UN envoy Danny Danon personally tried to pass the terminal to an Iranian delegate, stating it would enable Iranians to share their stories freely on social media. The Iranian diplomat turned away and did not accept the device.

Danon emphasized Israel's solidarity with the Iranian people and expressed hope for a future change in Iran's leadership. The exchange underscored the diplomatic tension over digital freedom and highlighted Israel's use of technology as a political statement.
