ISRO targets launch of first uncrewed Gaganyaan mission this year
ISRO chief V Narayanan announced that the agency, together with industry partners, is intensively preparing to launch the first uncrewed Gaganyaan mission within the current calendar year.
V Narayanan, head of ISRO, stated that the organization and its industrial collaborators are engaged in intensive, systematic efforts to send the first uncrewed Gaganyaan spacecraft aloft before the year ends. He made the remarks following the launch of the earth-observation satellite EOS-05, which he noted marks ISRO's first success of the financial year and will operate for nine years. Narayanan outlined a schedule of six more launches for the period, among them the navigation satellite NVS-03, and emphasized the continued momentum of India's space agenda.
He also refuted speculation that EOS-05 serves as a surveillance platform. In his address, he commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his guidance of the programme.
