Istanbul police arrest 11 foreigners suspected of ties to Daesh and al-Qaida

In a coordinated operation, Turkish counterterrorism forces and the Istanbul police intelligence branch detained eleven foreign nationals suspected of maintaining contacts with Daesh and al-Qaida operatives in war-torn regions. Authorities identified the individuals after tracing social-media content that lauded the terrorist groups and assessing a possible threat to Türkiye. Police executed simultaneous raids at the suspects' residences, confiscating a knife, eight rounds of ammunition and a large cache of digital files.

The detainees were taken to police headquarters for questioning and processing. The arrests form part of Turkey's long-standing campaign against Daesh, which has previously claimed dozens of Turkish lives and prompted extensive security measures across the country.
