Italian cabinet scraps road tax for small cars and motorcycles

The Council of Ministers approved the elimination of the vehicle tax for low-power cars and all motorcycles, granting each citizen a single exemption.

In a cabinet meeting, the government decided to cancel the annual road tax for small and medium-power automobiles, which are commonly used by families for daily travel. The exemption also applies to every motorcycle, but individuals may claim only one of the two benefits. The measure covers more than 70% of the cars currently on Italian roads, aiming to reduce the fiscal burden on a large segment of motorists.
