Italian Deputy Prime Minister Salvini meets Moscow-linked business delegation in Milan

Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Matteo Salvini met a group of Italian entrepreneurs active in Russia in Milan, an event organized by Vittorio Torrembini of Gim Unimpresa.

In Milan, Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Matteo Salvini convened with a delegation of Italian entrepreneurs who maintain operations in Russia, an initiative coordinated by Vittorio Torrembini, president of Gim Unimpresa. The meeting aimed to hear first-hand the challenges faced by more than three hundred Italian firms still engaged with the Russian market. Salvini expressed hope that the war would end swiftly, urging a restart of direct talks between Ukraine and Russia and emphasizing the need to protect Italian businesses and employment in the national interest.

Several participants cautioned that any move to block tourist visas for Italy and Europe would constitute an additional punitive measure against citizens unrelated to the conflict and would further harm Italy’s economy. The discussion highlighted the broader economic repercussions of the war for Italian trade and highlighted the government's stance on supporting affected companies.
