Jacob Wilson Breaks MLB Shortstop Errorless Streak Record in Boston

Jacob Wilson established a Major League Baseball record for the longest run of errorless games at shortstop, reaching 111 straight games in the Athletics' 4-3 victory at Fenway Park. The streak eclipsed the 2002 record set by Baltimore's Mike Bordick, with Wilson fielding 323 consecutive chances without a misplay. During the game he executed a 4-6-3 double play, a deep ground ball and a clean popup that involved a collision with second baseman Jeff McNeil.

Wilson said he practices taking ground balls before every start at shortstop and praised his father, former shortstop Jack Wilson, for emphasizing defense. In his three-year career he has committed only eight errors in 222 games, and this season he is batting.270 with 36 RBIs and seven home runs.
