Jaguar Land Rover unveils three new Defender Wolf Series II military variants, including a single-cab pickup

Jaguar Land Rover revealed three new military-grade Defender Wolf Series II vehicles - the Defender Utility Vehicle pickup, the Tactical Mobility Vehicle and the Mono-Tactical Mobility Vehicle - during the British Army’s DVD 2026 defence showcase at Millbrook in Bedfordshire. Unlike conventional pickups, each model is built on the Defender’s D7x all-aluminium monocoque chassis, which JLR claims offers three times the torsional rigidity of body-on-frame designs.

The vehicles satisfy the UK Ministry of Defence Light Mobility Vehicle tender specifications and are aimed at NATO defence forces. The Utility Vehicle prototype, equipped with a snorkel, marks the first single-cab Defender pickup concept, though a future civilian version is expected to have a dual-cab layout. Patrick McGillycuddy, Defender managing director, emphasized the platform’s adaptability, British-designed engineering and sovereign engine production in Wolverhampton. The launch follows extensive testing, including over 62,000 extreme-condition trials across deserts, Arctic cold and high-altitude ranges.
