Jakarta Governor cites record concerts and festivals as signs of economic strength

Governor Pramono highlighted recent large-scale events, including a Kanye West concert and the Pestapora festival, as evidence that Jakarta’s economy is thriving despite global pressures.

Governor Pramono told reporters that Jakarta’s recent lineup of high-profile events underscores the city’s robust macroeconomic performance. He referenced the Jakarta Running Festival held on October 24-25, which drew strong domestic and international participation. A concert by global rapper Kanye West, billed as "Ye Live in Jakarta 2026," attracted roughly 60,000 people, including about 30,000 foreign visitors, a first for the city.

Additional concerts by The Weeknd and the Pestapora festival in Kemayoran contributed significantly, with Pestapora alone delivering economic transactions exceeding Rp250 billion (around US$13.8 million). Official statistics indicate Jakarta’s growth at 5.52 percent, surpassing the national 5.29 percent rate. Pramono argued that these outcomes prove the capital can sustain strong growth despite external economic pressures, and he pledged continued development initiatives.
