Jake Paul and PFL join forces to launch a global combat-sports powerhouse
The Professional Fighters League has merged with Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions, creating a new combat-sports entity operating under the MVP brand.
Professional Fighters League and Most Valuable Promotions have officially merged, forming a new combat-sports company that will operate under the MVP banner. Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian will act as co-founders and board members, with former PFL CEO John Martin appointed as chief executive officer and board member. Investment will come from PFL’s current shareholders, 885 Capital and Knighthead Capital Management, which will inject fresh capital.
The venture vows to adopt a fighter-first philosophy, offering more equitable compensation and allowing athletes to cultivate personal brands beyond competition, a direct challenge to the UFC’s current model. Five premium boxing and MMA events are slated for August, and the organization will manage roughly 400 fighters across both sports. Executives highlighted the role of AI and live-experience value in driving the league’s growth strategy.
Why it matters
The merger creates a major new player in combat sports, potentially reshaping athlete pay and competition with the UFC.
