Jakson Group to invest Rs 6.8k crore in new solar wafer and cell plant in Andhra Pradesh
Jakson Integrated Solar will build a solar wafer and cell manufacturing complex on 290 acres in Meedivemula, Andhra Pradesh, with an investment of Rs 6.8k crore.
Jakson Integrated Solar, a subsidiary of the Noida-based Jakson Group, received approval to develop a solar wafer and cell plant on 290 acres in Meedivemula, Andhra Pradesh. The State Investment Promotion Board, chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, recommended the land allocation. The plant will be built in three stages, employing about 2,000 workers, and the first phase—capable of producing 3 GW of ingots, wafers and solar cells—targets commercial launch in May 2028, with the remaining capacity coming online by 2030.
This investment of Rs 6.8k crore expands Jakson’s existing 1.2 GW module operation in Greater Noida up the value chain. The initiative supports the state’s Integrated Clean Energy Policy, 2024, which seeks to establish a world-class solar manufacturing ecosystem and has already exceeded its 20 GW target for the sector.
Why it matters
The project will boost India's solar manufacturing capacity and create thousands of jobs in a key renewable-energy hub.
