Jamaat-i-Islami Holds Large Gaza Solidarity Rally on Third Anniversary of Oct. 7 Attack
Jamaat-i-Islami organized a major march in Karachi to mark the third anniversary of the Oct. 7 Hamas attack and to denounce Israel’s campaign in Gaza.
On Sunday, Jamaat-i-Islami staged a massive ‘Gaza March’ on Karachi’s Shahrah-i-Quaideen, extending from Allah Wala Chowrangi to Noorani Kabab, to commemorate the third anniversary of Hamas’s Oct. 7 strike and condemn Israel’s ongoing assault on Gaza that has killed thousands of Palestinians. The event featured Dr Muhammad Yousuf Al-Subki, the grand mufti of Gaza, who accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of terrorism and praised the moral support from worldwide Muslim rallies.
Party leader Hafiz Naeemur Rehman highlighted Karachi’s solidarity despite local economic hardships, called for stronger cooperation among Muslim states—including Bangladesh and Qatar—and tied the Palestine issue to his party’s campaign against the petroleum levy and rising inflation. He also rejected the U.S. designation of Hamas as a terrorist organization, describing it as a political and democratic movement. Rehman pledged to continue the solidarity drive until Oct. 7, after which the party will refocus on its domestic economic agenda.
Why it matters
The rally shows how regional political groups mobilize public sentiment on the Gaza conflict and link it to local economic grievances.
