Jamie Raskin becomes a sought-after Democratic surrogate ahead of midterms

Ranking member Jamie Raskin of the House Judiciary Committee has emerged as one of the most requested Democratic surrogates as the midterm campaign season heats up. In the August recess alone, he has campaigned alongside over a dozen candidates, spanning the party’s ideological spectrum and targeting districts that were won by Donald Trump in 2024. His stops have included Michigan, where he backed Senate nominee Abdul el Sayed and 7th District candidate William Lawrence, as well as Colorado, New York, and Iowa, where he supported both progressive and centrist challengers.

Raskin told one outlet that the candidates are generating the momentum needed for a "big blue wave" in November. While he is known for his criticism of Trump and his work on the Jan. 6 committee, he holds no formal leadership position in the House. If Democrats regain the House, he is expected to play a prominent role in any investigations of the president.
