‘Camp Miasma,’ a slasher-comedy directed by Jane Schoenbrun and featuring Hannah Einbinder alongside Gillian Anderson, premiered in Los Angeles on July 29 and began a limited theatrical run on Aug. 7. The distributor Mubi plans to add the film to 50 additional venues next weekend before a full national launch on Aug. 21. Schoenbrun said the movie reflects a more carefree phase after the intense tone of her previous titles, and she aims to keep her work surprising.
Co-star Jasmin Savoy Brown praised the collaborative energy of creators outside the traditional white-male sphere, while Patrick Fischler lauded the film’s potential to reach broader audiences. Einbinder noted the project’s significance for queer cinema’s visibility, and the cast highlighted its blend of horror, humor, and LGBTQ themes.
