Japan and Poland pledge joint effort to aid Ukraine's reconstruction

In Slovakia, Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi and Poland’s foreign minister Radoslaw Sikorski reached an agreement to synchronize support for Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction, emphasizing Poland’s position as a business gateway. The two officials pledged cooperation with the European Union and other aligned countries to safeguard economic security and vital technologies. Motegi, on a four-nation tour that includes Turkmenistan, Austria and Mongolia, also secured a commitment from Sikorski to promote assistance for Ukraine.

In parallel, Motegi met Slovakian Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar to expand economic collaboration, noting the presence of about 60 Japanese firms in Slovakia. Earlier, Motegi and Turkmenistan’s Rashid Meredov agreed to strengthen ties over natural resources, energy and artificial intelligence. The ministers stressed the need to avoid over-reliance on single markets and to build resilient supply chains.
