Jayden Daniels exits Week 2 game with elbow injury

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels left the Week 2 contest against the Dallas Cowboys after his elbow dislocated in the first half.

During the Commanders' Week 2 matchup with the Cowboys, quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered a left elbow dislocation late in the first half and was carted off for X-ray evaluation. The injury occurred as he reached for the ground after stumbling on a pass play while the team was near the goal line. Prior to exiting, Daniels recorded 11 completions on 17 attempts for 96 yards and a touchdown, plus 69 rushing yards.

He was replaced by veteran backup Marcus Mariota. This marks another setback for Daniels, who dealt with an elbow injury that sidelined him for four games in the previous season and missed a total of ten games overall.

Why it matters

The injury removes the Commanders' starting quarterback, affecting the team's offensive strategy for the season.
