Jazz pianist Jacky Terrasson placed under formal investigation for alleged sexual assault on minor

French-American pianist Jacky Terrasson has been placed under formal investigation for alleged sexual assault on a girl who was six years old at the time.

A formal investigation has been initiated against Franco-American jazz pianist Jacky Terrasson concerning alleged sexual assault on a girl who was six years old at the time of the incident. The victim disclosed the abuse to a physician years later, leading the CHU de Bordeaux to file a report with the Bordeaux prosecutor in March 2025, after which she filed a complaint in September 2025. Prosecutors have also placed Terrasson under the status of assisted witness for a charge of rape of a minor under 15, relating to the same child.

The allegations were first reported by France Culture and France Inter, noting that the abuse allegedly occurred during a 2015 tour when the child's father was close to the musician. Terrasson continues to deny the accusations, while the victim's lawyer expressed satisfaction that the case is now being addressed by the justice system.

Why it matters

The case highlights serious allegations of sexual abuse involving a prominent artist and raises questions about accountability in the music industry.
