JD(S) leader Manjanna taken into custody after assaulting traffic constable in Bengaluru
JD(S) state general secretary Manjanna was arrested for allegedly attacking traffic police constable Arun during a traffic stop in Gottigere.
Bengaluru police reported that JD(S) state general secretary Manjanna was arrested following an alleged assault on traffic constable Arun during a routine traffic regulation near Hulimavu police station. The confrontation began when Arun signaled Manjanna to stop his vehicle, prompting the politician to object and question the officer. According to the complaint, Manjanna seized the constable’s collar and, with an aide’s help, tried to strike him, a scene captured in a viral video.
After the clash, Manjanna is said to have phoned a senior police officer to lodge a complaint, after which the constable was instructed to apologise, angering junior officers. The incident was reported to the department later, leading to an inquiry and the filing of charges for assaulting a public servant. Joint commissioner of police (East) Ramesh Banoth confirmed that a case has been lodged at Hulimavu police station and that investigations are ongoing.
