JD(U) suspends Mokama MLA Anant Kumar Singh for six years and seeks his removal
The Janata Dal (United) expelled Anant Kumar Singh from the party for six years, cancelled his MLA membership and asked the Bihar Assembly Speaker to revoke it.
On October 24, the Janata Dal (United) announced the immediate cancellation of Janata Dal (United) primary membership for Mokama MLA Anant Kumar Singh and imposed a six-year party ban, accusing him of ignoring leadership directives and using language unbecoming of a legislator. An office order, signed by state president Umesh Singh Kushwaha, urged the Bihar Assembly Speaker to revoke Singh’s MLA status under the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution, pointing to his campaigning for candidates of other parties during the recent Bihar Legislative Council election.
The party also removed former MLA Neelam Devi from its ranks and expelled her for six years for alleged anti-party activities. Both actions reflect JD(U)’s effort to enforce discipline ahead of upcoming political contests.
Why it matters
The move shows JD(U)’s strict internal discipline, potentially reshaping Bihar’s legislative dynamics.
