Jeffries Says Democrats Won’t Pre-Commit to Impeachment If They Reclaim House

During a segment of “This Week,” House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries outlined the Democratic agenda should they secure a House majority in the midterms. He emphasized that the priority is to lower the cost of living, reduce gas and grocery prices, make housing more affordable and ensure health-care is accessible, while confronting what he described as unprecedented executive corruption. Jeffries promised that any officials who have “short-changed” or “stolen” from Americans will be held accountable, pointing to the work of Judiciary Committee member Jamie Raskin and Oversight Committee chair Robert Garcia.

When asked whether impeachment would be pursued immediately, he replied that nothing has been ruled in or out. He stressed that the House must function as an independent branch and act as a check on the executive, guided by facts, law and the Constitution.
