Jeffries warns Republicans are using voter suppression as a campaign tactic

During an appearance on MS NOW’s “Politics Nation,” House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries claimed that Republicans have adopted voter suppression as a core electoral strategy. He warned that this shift requires Democrats to mount an unprecedented voter-protection campaign, involving coordination among House and Senate Democrats, Democratic governors, secretaries of state, and attorneys general, including New York’s Tish James.

Jeffries also said civil-rights organizations will be enlisted in the effort. He emphasized that the initiative aims to let American citizens determine congressional control and to push back against what he called an extreme, historic assault on Black political representation across the South and the nation. The statement frames the issue as a partisan battle over voting rights. Jeffries concluded by urging an “all-hands-on-deck” response to safeguard electoral outcomes.
