Jesse Lee Calhoun charged with manslaughter in death of sixth Portland woman

A grand jury indicted Jesse Lee Calhoun for the 2022 death of 32-year-old Elizabeth “Libby” Gibson, adding a sixth alleged victim to his case.

Jesse Lee Calhoun, already charged with five second-degree murders of women in the Portland area, has been indicted by a grand jury for the death of 32-year-old Elizabeth “Libby” Gibson. District Attorney Nathan Vasquez disclosed that the manslaughter charge relates to Gibson’s disappearance in 2022, though her remains have not been located. Gibson was last seen in 2022 and only reported missing in March 2023; prosecutors allege Calhoun killed her on November 18, 2022, making her the earliest victim in the alleged series.

Calhoun’s prior victims include Charity Lynn Perry, Bridget Leann Webster, Joanna Speaks, Kristin Smith and Ashley Real. Senior Deputy District Attorney Melissa Marrero appealed for public tips, noting that earlier information helped build the case. Calhoun is scheduled for arraignment in Multnomah County Circuit Court, and the new indictment may delay his already postponed trial.
