JetBlue rolls out BlueFirst domestic first-class with extra space and cocktail customization

JetBlue announced its new BlueFirst cabin, a domestic first-class product featuring larger seats, Bluetooth audio and a seat-back cocktail-mixing option, slated to debut later this year.

JetBlue unveiled BlueFirst, a domestic first-class cabin designed to compete with legacy carriers, featuring foam-lined recliners in a 2 × 2 configuration, extra legroom, Bluetooth headphones and a 13.3-inch seat-back screen that lets riders craft their own cocktails. The product will be installed on Airbus A220, A320 and A321 aircraft, with 12 seats on the smaller models and 16 on the stretched A321, and service is expected to begin later this year across all JetBlue markets not already served by its Mint business class.

Enhanced meals, including bento-style boxes on flights over 899 miles, and premium snack brands will be offered, while three fare categories - flex, standard and a discount "base" option - determine the level of amenities such as free seat selection and baggage allowances. BlueFirst passengers receive priority boarding, dedicated overhead bin space and expedited security, but do not gain automatic lounge entry unless they hold a Mosaic 4 status or a qualifying credit card. The launch follows a rise in premium-cabin revenue for JetBlue and its rivals, as airlines seek higher-margin customers amid a post-pandemic recovery.

Why it matters

The new cabin shows JetBlue's push into higher-margin premium travel, affecting competition and ticket pricing.
