Jetten urges broad talks with opposition while parties demand clear cabinet direction

In the latest budget debate, Finance Minister Jetten defended the government's strategy of engaging several opposition parties simultaneously, labeling the Miljoenennota a "generous offer" with many potential entry points. He emphasized a short-term continuation of dialogue, while acknowledging that most parties are not ready to give an outright yes. Green-left leader Jesse Klaver expressed serious concerns, arguing that the lack of a clear cabinet decision could spark further disorder.

JA21 chairman Joost Eerdmans added that without a definitive direction, additional negotiations are pointless. Jetten reiterated that the cabinet has sought support from across the parliamentary spectrum from day one and considers it improper to now exclude any group, specifically naming Pro, 50Plus, ChristenUnie, Volt, SGP, JA21 and BBB as possible allies.
