Jewish diaspora rallies for unity and security three years after Oct. 7 attack

On the third anniversary of the Oct. 7 Hamas assault, Jewish groups in North America and Europe are focusing on community resilience, tighter security and youth empowerment.

Three years after the Oct. 7 Hamas attack, Jewish organizations across the West are emphasizing a shift from fear to renewal, stressing identity, unity and generational leadership. William Daroff urged senior bodies to entrust young Jews with real responsibilities, while the European Jewish Congress highlighted permanent security duties and the work of its Security and Crisis Center in providing assessments and crisis management.

The newly created J50 forum seeks regular dialogue between diaspora leaders and Israel’s foreign ministry to coordinate advocacy. At the same time, the EJC cautioned that airport-style security at schools and synagogues may erode children’s sense of belonging. Data from New York shows anti-Jewish hate crimes now make up over half of the city’s hate incidents, prompting calls for broader societal action beyond police protection.
