Jim Bolger eyes repeat May Hill Stakes triumph with rising filly Sea Of Rain

After a Group Three victory that marked her best effort to date, Sea Of Rain has been bought by Newtown Anner Stud and will be trained by Jim Bolger for Thursday’s Betfred May Hill Stakes at Doncaster. Bolger, who previously won the race with Turret Rocks in 2015, believes the filly’s uncomplicated nature and mile distance suit her well, especially on good-to-soft ground, and hopes for a middle-track draw, according to PJ Colville of the owners.

The race features Godolphin’s Musical Times, who has won two starts this season and aims to follow the path of Desert Flower. Charlie Appleby, trainer of Musical Times, expressed confidence that the step up to a mile will not hinder his horse’s progress. The contest on Town Moor offers Bolger a chance to repeat his earlier success with a promising new contender.
