Jim Jordan asks FBI for full Round River files after memo disclosures

In a formal request, Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan asked FBI Director Kash Patel to provide every document and communication linked to the Round River counter-intelligence effort conducted during the 2020 election. The request was triggered by declassified memos released last month, which revealed that the FBI had marked prominent Republicans, including former officials and media personalities, as conduits of Russian disinformation, while labeling certain Democrats as targets.

Jordan specifically seeks the confidential human source files for the 14 informants who reported derogatory information about President Joe Biden and his family’s Ukrainian business dealings. Patel has told the task force that the FBI has located tens of thousands of relevant pages and is working to disclose them to Congress. The Round River operation, one of several probes targeting Trump allies, has drawn criticism for potentially infringing on civil liberties and for its partisan labeling of individuals. Lawmakers are now scrutinizing whether the criteria used to label “conduits” were based on speech rather than genuine security threats.
