Jio IPO reserves Rs 2,500 crore for Reliance shareholders, deadline set for Oct 14

Jio Platforms has earmarked up to Rs 2,500 crore of shares for eligible Reliance Industries shareholders, with the eligibility cut-off fixed on October 14, 2026.

Jio Platforms' upcoming public offering designates a Rs 2,500 crore share quota for eligible Reliance Industries shareholders, with an extra Rs 500 crore allocated for eligible employees, creating a Rs 3,000 crore reservation pool. The record date for determining eligibility is October 14, 2026, the same day the red-herring prospectus was filed, meaning only those holding Reliance shares in demat accounts on that date can apply under this category.

Because Indian markets settle on a T+1 basis, investors need to purchase Reliance shares at least one trading day before the record date. The IPO price band ranges from Rs 1,065 to Rs 1,119 per share, with a fresh issue of up to 27 crore equity shares, potentially raising between Rs 28,755 crore and Rs 30,213 crore. Anchor investors can bid from October 19, while the public subscription runs from October 21 to October 23, with a maximum bid of Rs 2 lakh for the shareholder quota. Proceeds will go to Jio Platforms for debt repayment and general corporate purposes.

Why it matters

The reservation lets Reliance shareholders directly invest in Jio, influencing the size and pricing of India's biggest IPO.
