JJ Bleday completes rare cycle in first four at-bats versus Diamondbacks
Cincinnati’s JJ Bleday hit for the cycle in his first four plate appearances against Arizona, giving the Reds an 8-2 lead.
JJ Bleday of the Cincinnati Reds achieved a cycle during his early at-bats against the Arizona Diamondbacks, producing a double in the first inning, a triple in the third, a single in the fourth and a home run in the sixth. The home run, hit on the first pitch from Arizona pitcher Zack Littell, pushed the Reds ahead to an 8-2 lead. This feat represents the eighth cycle in Reds history dating back to 1890 and the first for the club since Elly De La Cruz’s cycle on June 23, 2023.
Bleday joined three other players who have hit for the cycle this season: Pete Crow-Armstrong, Bryce Harper and Tristan Peters. The six-run blast was Bleday’s 21st homer of the year, eclipsing his prior career high of 20 set while with the Oakland Athletics in 2024.
Why it matters
Bleday’s cycle highlights a standout individual performance and adds to the Reds’ offensive momentum.
