Job applicant steals lottery tickets during interview, caught cashing $5 prize

During a May 6, 2025 interview at a Murphy USA station in Florence, South Carolina, Antonio Levon Ricardo Stewart took several scratch-off tickets and was arrested after trying to redeem a $5 winner.

While being considered for employment at a Murphy USA gas station, Antonio Levon Ricardo Stewart allegedly lifted multiple lottery tickets from the premises. He later attempted to cash six of them at three nearby stores, including two on the same strip as the prospective workplace. Only one ticket proved to be a winner, yielding a $5 payout. Authorities charged him with three counts of intent to defraud game tickets, and he posted a $5,000 bond on August 26.

The incident shows how even minor thefts can disrupt local businesses and lead to criminal charges.
