Joe Thuney praises chemistry with Bears' newly signed center Garrett Bradbury

Left guard Joe Thuney said playing alongside new Chicago Bears center Garrett Bradbury feels like a reunion after years apart.

Joe Thuney, the Bears’ left guard, reflected on reuniting with center Garrett Bradbury, a former NC State teammate from the 2014-15 seasons. Thuney praised Bradbury’s intelligence, communication skills, and physical abilities, emphasizing the effort the rookie has made to learn Ben Johnson’s offensive terminology. The pair did not appear in Chicago’s preseason opener because the coaching staff rested most starters.

Thuney believes their familiarity could accelerate the offensive line’s cohesion as the team works out the starting left tackle position. He hinted that the Bears might field their starters in later preseason matchups against the Bengals or Titans. The reunion adds a familiar element to a unit otherwise rebuilding chemistry.

Why it matters

Reuniting former college teammates could speed up the Bears' offensive line development this season.
