Joint Victoria-Tasmania police raid nets $2.5 million in illegal tobacco and weapons
A coordinated police operation across Victoria and Tasmania resulted in three arrests and the seizure of illicit tobacco, firearms, ammunition, silver and gold worth over $2.5 million.
Authorities from both states launched the Prism operation, targeting a network dealing in contraband tobacco and weapons. Officers confiscated cash, precious metals, firearms and ammunition, estimating the illegal tobacco's value at more than $2.5 million. Three men were charged: a 33-year-old from Hoppers Crossing, a 22-year-old from Sorell, and a 37-year-old from Hoppers Crossing who was later released.
