Jon Hamm Stars as 1970s Radio Host in Tense ‘American Hostage’ Trailer
The new trailer shows Jon Hamm as Indianapolis radio reporter Fred Heckman confronting a three-day hostage crisis in the upcoming MGM+ series “American Hostage,” debuting Sept. 20.
A trailer for the MGM+ psychological thriller “American Hostage” introduces Jon Hamm as Fred Heckman, a 1970s Indianapolis WIBC radio journalist thrust into a three-day hostage standoff. In the clip, armed captor Tony Kiritsis, played by Giovanni Ribisi, calls into Heckman’s show and threatens to kill anyone who intervenes, prompting the reporter to broadcast his live interview. Hamm returns to the role he first voiced in the narrative podcast of the same name.
The eight-part series, co-created by Shawn Ryan and Eileen Myers, is set to premiere on Sept. 20 and will wrap with a finale on Nov. 1. Additional cast members include Kristoffer Polaha, William Jackson Harper, Mireille Enos, Jonathan Tucker and Kat Cunning, while executive producers span Ryan, Myers, Sharon Hoffman, Hamm and several others. The project is produced by Sony Pictures Television for the MGM+ platform.
