Jon Ossoff Leads Democratic Field in 2028 Nomination Forecast

Kalshi’s prediction market now lists Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff as the front-runner for the Democratic nomination in the 2028 presidential race, with an 18 percent chance, just ahead of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez at 17 percent and Governor Gavin Newsom at 13 percent. Ossoff’s odds have climbed dramatically since February, when he was pegged at 4.5 percent, coinciding with a sharp decline in Newsom’s earlier dominance, which once reached 36.7 percent.

The field also features former Vice President Kamala Harris at nine percent, former DOT Secretary Pete Buttigieg at 5.2 percent, and several other candidates in the low-single digits. Ossoff reiterated that he has no plans to pursue the presidency, emphasizing his focus on the Senate race in a state Trump carried in 2024. Meanwhile, Republican favorite Vice President JD Vance leads his party’s market odds at 43 percent, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Governor Ron DeSantis trailing. Polls suggest an Ossoff-Vance or Ossoff-Rubio general election matchup would give the 2028 contest its first non-baby-boomer nominees since 1988.
