Jorge Martín clinches pole at Red Bull Ring, edging out Márquez and Acosta

Jorge Martín overcame a right-arm compartment-syndrome problem to take pole position for the MotoGP Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg. His qualifying lap was only two-tenths slower than the track’s all-time record, putting him ahead of favorites Marc Márquez and Pedro Acosta. The Aprilia rider’s performance marks his third pole of the season after successes at Assen and Silverstone, bringing his career total to 23 MotoGP poles.

Marco Bezzecchi will line up on the front row, while Ai Ogura returns to the grid in fifth after missing previous races, and Álex Márquez starts sixth following a crash in his final attempt. Pecco Bagnaia leads the third row, accompanied by Fabio di Giannantonio and Fabio Quartararo.
